Popular writers and performers will be coming to Sun Valley as part of the Sun Valley Center for the Arts 2012–13 Lecture Series and Performing Arts Series, starting with journalist Frank Rich on October 14 and chamber music group SYBARITE5 on October 27.
Series tickets are on sale to members now. Members can purchase individual tickets starting September 24 and all remaining individual tickets will be released for sale to the public on October 3.

Frank Rich, Oct 14
Formerly the theater critic and an opinion columnist at the New York Times, Rich joined New York magazine in June 2011 as Writer-at-Large. He will speak on the upcoming presidential election.
Daniel Handler, Nov 18
The author of the wildly popular series of books, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Handler will speak about fairy tales and scary stories.
Richard Rodriguez, Jan 17
A contributing editor at New America Media in San Francisco, Rodriguez is the author of several books on class, ethnicity and race in America, including Hunger of Memory, Days of Obligation: An Argument With My Mexican Father and Brown: The Last Discovery of America. He has received many awards for his writing and been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in non-fiction.

Vice Admiral Robert S. Harward Jr. is a Navy SEAL and Deputy Commander of the U.S. Central Command. He commanded troops in Afghanistan and Iraq for more than six years since September 11, 2001.
Tim O’Brien, Mar 13
O’Brien’s novels about war—Going After Cacciato, The Things They Carried and In the Lake of the Woods—have become instant classics about the experiences of soldiers during combat and after returning home. Among other honors, he has received a National Book Award and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize lifetime achievement award.

SYBARITE5, Oct 27
From Radiohead to Mozart, this quintet of talented, diverse musicians changes the perception of chamber music among anyone who hears them. SYBARITE5’s appearance is a collaborative project between the Sun Valley Center for the Arts and the Sun Valley Summer Symphony.

Juno nominees and winners of the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Award for Vocal Group of the Year, Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine write and sing in harmony best described as angelic. These two best friends met in high school in 2002 and have since released five albums and toured extensively across North America.
Matt Andersen, Jan 23
Andersen was always musical—he played tuba, trumpet and guitar by the time he was 15—but his life as a performer really started when he discovered Mississippi Delta blues. He has built an impressive reputation for his imposing voice and slashing slide guitar and in 2010 became the first Canadian to win Memphis’s famed International Blues Challenge.

Recently anointed as Boston’s Americana Artist of the Year, David Wax Museum has been on a steady ascent. The Museum fuses traditional Mexican folk with country, folk and rock to create a unique Mexo-Americana sound that is electrifying audiences across the country.
A Cabaret Evening with the Michael Kaeshammer Trio, Mar 8
Ketchum’s NexStage Theatre will be transformed into a cosmopolitan cabaret for an evening of classic boogie-woogie and stride piano by Michael Kaeshammer.
Series tickets are $112.50 for the Lecture Series and $117 for the Performing Arts Series. Special Editor and Critic’s Circle tickets for $500 per series help defray the cost of presenting the series and include perks like preferred seating, a reception and luncheon. Individual tickets start at $15 and go on sale Sept 24 for members and Oct 3 for the general public. Some events have student discounts.
