"Miss Representation" is a powerful, highly acclaimed documentary that aims to end sexism in the media and empower women Miss Representation first premiered in the documentary competition at the Sundance Film Festival where it caught the eye of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. It made its television debut as part of the OWN documentary film club in October 2011, with over 1.3 million people tuning in to its multiple airings. Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the film exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. Thanks to the generous support of Blair & Mimi Clark, the local non-profit Girls on the Run is proud to host a free screening on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Doors open at 5:30 with an opportunity to visit with organizations from our community also concerned about the issues the film rises. Showing starts at 6pm.
