Well, while it is true that a number of the stalwart summer music offerings have now ended their respective runs until next year (i.e., "Jazz in the Park", "Ketch'em Alive", the SV Summer Symphony series, the "Back Alley Party" concerts at The Wicked Spud), there still is some terrific live music to be had in the Wood River Valley -- "slack" season notwithstanding, that is.
Tuesday (Sept. 11), for instance, visitors to the Ketchum Farmers Market (2-6 p.m.) can enjoy the musical stylings of Dan Freeman. (At the Hailey Farmers Market on Thursday, from 2:30-6:30 p.m., Travis Ward will be the featured player.)
At the Silver Dollar Saloon in Bellevue on Thursday (101 S. Main St./788-2900), from 5-7 p.m., the Buhl-based band, The Bermuda Cowboys ( http://reverbnation.com/bermudacowboys ) take center stage at that venerable south Valley establishment, while on Friday evening The Hitchhikers (aka, Mike Saul, Fletcher Brock, Chip Booth and Troy Tadlock: http://www.TheHitchhikers.us/band.htm ) take the stage there from 9 p.m. until midnight or so.
The always-eclectic and exciting music offerings at Whiskey's here in Ketchum ( http://www.WhiskeyJacques.com / 251 N. Main St./ 726-5297) this week will feature Ethan Tucker and the Grassroots All-Stars ( http://www.MySpace.com/etuckermusic ) on Friday night ... and Trevor Greene ( http://www.vimeo.com/trevbot ) on Saturday night, with music slated to start around 9 p.m. both nights.
Also this coming weekend, another Ketchum venue that always features a lot of eclectic and exciting music -- Lefty's 231 6th Street E./ 726-2744) -- will feature the Jay Rath-fronted band, Clean Dog Head, on Saturday evening there, and Mia Edsall ( http://www.MiaEdsall.com ) on Sunday, with music slated to run from 6-9 p.m. both nights there at Lefty's.
Also, you may want to note that TONIGHT (Monday) kicks off season 3 of NBC's usually verrry entertaining music talent show competition, "The Voice" ( http://www.nbc.com/thevoice), from 7-9 p.m., with parts 2 and 3 of the season's premiere show playing tomorrow and also on Wednesday night -- also from 7-9 p.m. By the way, auditions are ALREADY underway for season 4 of "The Voice" so if you think you have what it takes vocally to make it big on that terrific talent showcase program go to: http://www.nbcthevoice.com for details about how and where to audition.
And that's just some of the musical fun that awaits avid music-loving Wood River Valley residents and visitors alike this week. Enjoy!!! :)
