Through the transparent medium of glass, Cassandra Straubing explores the sociological aspects of the working class garments, a representation and symbol of what a person does to contribute to society and western culture.  The clothing, now transparent, allows the viewer to see through the exterior facade into the essence of a person.

Straubing is currently the head of the Glass Department at San Jose State University in California.  She received her MFA in glass in 2007 from Rochester Institute of Technology, and her BFA in studio art from California Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo, in 2002.

BULLSEYE AT FRIESEN featured artists are Kate Baker, Giles Bettison, Dante Marioni, Richard Parrish, Michael Rogers, and Cassandra Straubing.  Gallery hours are 10:00AM to 6:00PM, Monday – Friday, 10AM to 5PM Saturday, 11:00AM - 4:00 PM Sunday, and always by appointment.   Visit our website at:  friesengallery.com   Like us!  on Facebook.
